PD : What do you think about Japanese design? When you think about Japanese design, what do you think?
JE :I think of beauty, and clear lines in their design. They can tell a whole story with one line. Japanese design has the tradition of it. I think that Japanese and Finnish designs are always the best. One thing I really like about Japanese design is that its design doesn't seem afraid of finding new languages. On the other hand, Swedish design, design we usually see, is always the same. Now things are happing behind the mainstream Swedish design, and you see the new movement in Swedish design. But if I talk about Japanese design, I can say that they are not afraid of doing something new.
PD : What do you think about Italian design?
JE : I think it is very good as well. In a very different way, though. I think a lot of Italian designs are "design for design". Not really asking what this product is. nI think that they are exploring the concept of deign itself. Japanese and Finnish feeling is similar to Swedish feeling. But Italian is different.
PD : They are more expressive?
JE : Yes, they are. They are more exploring the concept of design. But I really like it. Although I am not as close to Italian design as I am to Japanese and Finnish design.
PD : What is your dream? What do you want to achieve in your career?
JE : I want to continue this way. Not just commercially successful. I want to be able to explore.
