The Metaphys products are designed with the common idea and they are consistent with the idea even though different companies produce the products: the idea is that all the creative process should start from "observation." By observing things, you have the perspectives of the second and the third persons, and thereby you can avoid being subjective.

It represents "a discipline that explores the basic principle of all existences." What we think is necessary is really necessary for everyday life? One of our missions is to examine how important the existence of a product is in this world of the excessive production. Metaphys is a brand created by the collaboration of companies and individuals that share this idea.

Chiaki Murata joined Sanyo Electric Co., Ltd. after graduating from the Osaka City University, Faculty of Engineering, and Applied Physics Department in 1982. Besides working on product design, he was also involved in the backbone concept of new projects such as single domestic appliances. Chiaki Murata established Hers Experimental Design Laboratory, Inc. in 1986, and created many ground-breaking products in a wide range of products, graphics C.I., and interface designs, and has received many awards. He proposed the virtual industry system, which links each process of product development to an industry that specializes in that field. He is now involved in the G Mark, and ASEAN Selection, and makes TV appearances as a commentator.
